IKO’s mission is to safely and sustainably grow kiteboarding by empowering you to experience the sport with confidence.

IKO is offering the opportunity to make a living out of kiteboarding passion through IKO professional training courses. The IKO Instructor certificate is recognized internationally and provides you with the skills you need to teach kiteboarding safely and effectively.
Our instructor certification opens up work opportunities in more than 350 IKO Centers spread across 60 countries and lets you showcase your experience and find your dream gig on our exclusive job search platform.

To become IKO instructor you have to first enter Assistant Training Course (ATC) and when you pass, you can enter Instructor Training Course (ITC).

ATC is for independent kitesurfers who want to improve their riding or make a career out of kitesurfing. Learn the fundamentals of kitesurfing and turn your skills into primary teaching competencies. The ATC prepares you to work as an Assistant at IKO Centers around the world. You can also take this course to improve your kitesurfing skills and become a stronger and more confident kiter.

ATC includes 2 modules:
Module 1 eLearning from the comfort of your home and Module 2 In-Person Training at an IKO Center where you’re provided with the latest riding, safety and teaching techniques. You have the option to take only Module 1 to improve your knowledge.  To receive your certification you must also complete Module 2.

The first module is online where you’ll learn the essential theoretical kitesurfing concepts to prepare you for in-person training. Enroll in the course to access eLearning materials through your IKO account.
The second module is in-person training with an Assistant Trainer who guides you through a progression of skills. The training takes place over 5 days and includes hands-on learning and continual feedback sessions with other passionate kitesurfers.

There aren’t any prerequisites for Module 1 eLearning. Anyone can do the first module. But to attend Module 2 In-Person Training, you must be at least 16 years old and have a riding level equivalent to IKO Kiteboarder Level 4 – Advanced.

Module 1 is $169. This includes eLearning materials, the ATC Manual and IKO Kiter Membership (Plus).
Module 1 is there to prepare you for Module 2 In-Person Training. If you need clarification or have questions, write them down. Anything that was not clear to you will be clarified by your Assistant Trainer during in-person training.
The in-person training fee is determined by the IKO Center. This is paid directly to the IKO Center. You can check pricing on the training calendar.

IKO ATC total price is $600 or 558€:
module 1 is $169 or 157€ (you pay directly to IKO)
module 2 is $431 or 400€ you pay to Surfy Surfschool.
